Property Search in Land Registry Offices
Once the cadastral process has been completed in an area and a Land Registry Office is in operation, the identification of the owner of each plot of land, apartment, or commercial property, as well as the relevant property details, can be carried out:
A) either by the unique property identification number (K.A.E.K.), B) or by the address of the property, C) or by the details of the property owner.
What is the “K.A.E.K.”?
NATIONAL CADASTRE CODE NUMBER (K.A.E.K.) is the unique twelve-digit number assigned to each land parcel in Greece, or a sixteen-digit number in the case of horizontal property (e.g. apartment, office, or shop in a building).
The digits correspond to the following:
A) The first two digits correspond to the Prefecture,
B) The next two digits correspond to the Municipality or Community,
C) The following two digits correspond to the sector of the Municipality,
D) The next two digits correspond to the building block (block number), and
E) The following three digits correspond to the plot (or land parcel) number.
In the case of horizontal property (apartment, office, or shop), four additional digits are added to the K.A.E.K.:
ST) The next two digits correspond to the building number (apartment building), and
Z) The last two digits correspond to the floor and the specific position of the horizontal property unit.
